40 Minutes from 42nd Street: What's New on Broadway this Spring
Spring is the season of new shows opening on Broadway and this year there are plenty of new and returning shows to choose from! The most up-to-date information on new shows hitting the theaters can be found on the Playbill website, but for now, here are five shows that are opening soon:
Dog Day Afternoon: Opening on March 30, this adaptation of the 1975 Warner Bros. thriller film will be starring Jon Bernthal (The Walking Dead & The Bear) and Ebon Moss-Bachrach (The Bear & Girls).
Becky Shaw: Opening on April 6, this is the Broadway debut of Gina Gionfriddo’s Pulitzer Prize finalist comedy about a blind date gone wrong. Starring Patrick Ball (The Pitt) and Madeline Brewer (The Handmaid’s Tale), the show’s preview has received rave reviews from audiences and critics alike.
Death of a Salesman: Opening April 9, this classic Broadway masterpiece returns in a brand-new production starring Nathan Lane (Only Murders in the Building & The Gilded Age) and Laurie Metcalf (Roseanne & Lady Bird).
The Fear of 13: Opening April 15, this show is an adaptation of David Sington’s documentary about death row convict Nick Yarris. The play premiered at London’s Donmar Warehouse in 2024, and is now making its Broadway debut. The show is set to star Adrien Brody (The Pianist & The Brutalist) as Nick Yarris.
Beaches, A New Musical: Opening April 22, this new musical is based on Iris Rainer Dart’s novel, which inspired the beloved movie with Bette Midler and Barbara Hershey. The production premiered in Alberta, Canada in 2024 and will be launching a national tour after its run on Broadway. The production is set to star Jessica Vosk (Hell’s Kitchen & Hazbin Hotel) and Kelli Barrett who originated the role of Bertie White in the world premiere of the show in 2024.
